What we offer
Mentoring and Character Development
Provides each student time with an adult. Our staff takes the time to listen and guide our students. Life skills and character development classes are offered, as well as holding interactive group meetings. Once a week, community members come and share information about different careers and pathways to success. Once a month, community volunteers are invited to mentor students through deep life discussions paired with engaging fellowship.
Education
Students are required to spend an hour engaged in academic enrichment when they visit The Clearport Learning Center. We provide tutoring for all subject areas and encourage hands on learning and critical thinking skills. Students work in small groups and can sign up for individual time. Students have access to two computer labs with software and printing. We monitor grades and check in with students to adjust their learning path. In addition to subject tutoring, we offer scheduled ACT prep sessions daily. Our Staff helps students fill out scholarships and financial aid packets for school. We help search and apply for college.
Career Readiness
While at The Clearport Learning Center, students take an interest survey for possible career choices. Students are provided guidance in finding careers that fit their interests and personalities. Classes are held that provide insight into possible career choices. Our staff helps students make and build resumes, along with interview preparation.
Special Interest Classes and Groups
We offer classes that expose students to various interests. Classes are led by staff and volunteer community members that want to pass on their talents to the students. Check out our calendar for this month’s classes.
